Indigo Bridge Books readings

I’m reading from BRANDING GIRLS at Indigo Bridge Books at 7 p.m. on May 16 in conjuncture with a course adoption of the collection, which I’m super excited about!

Here are two short clips from my reading last week.

At Indigo, I’ve set up a powerpoint with images of the artwork to which the poems in BRANDING GIRLS are responding. Technology-wise (laptop, projector, camera), I hope everything works out (cross your fingers). I’ll post some clips following the reading.

news

I have new poems in the current issues of Poet Lore, Generations of Poetry, and Compass Rose, the latter two are in the Matilda Fletcher series.

I’ve got a mention on the graduate student blog at NDSU, where I presented poems from my dissertation over earlier this spring.

As of today, there are five more wonderful reviews on Amazon of Branding Girls. Yeah! I’ve posted one video (so far) of a reading from Branding Girls on the author Amazon page, but there are several more on YouTube.

Indigo Bridge Books has announced my reading on their events page for Monday May 16th at 7pm. I’m very much looking forward to reading there!

Poetry at the Moon

I’m reading tonight with the talented poet Michelle Menting at Poetry on the Moon at Crescent Moon, 7 p.m., May 9, 2011 (140 N 8th St #10, Lincoln, NE 68508). I’ll be reading from Branding Girls and by request (I promised R. I would), new poems from my dissertation on Matilda Fletcher. Here’s a longer clip from my reading last week at Tuesdays with Writers. (It’s a little shaky at the beginning).

Tonight, I’ll read poems I’ve never before read aloud from Branding Girls. I hope you’ll be there.

Tuesdays with Writers

Tuesday, I drove south to the South Mill to read in the Tuesdays with Writers series organized by Deborah. Being a fan of the wonderful coffee shop, The Mill, in the Haymarket area in Lincoln, I felt right at home with the exposed ceiling beams, brick and mortar, the gurgle and whirl of the espresso machine, and the aroma of coffee, mochas, and lattes. I read from two recent anthologies from Unhook Press and from Branding Girls (did I mention, that Branding Girls is now available from Amazon? How cool is that).

I thought I’d add a little clip from the reading. (Given this is my first attempt, I couldn’t find a tripod; next time, I promise. It’s only the first 10 seconds that are shaky.) Thanks, K., for suggesting I do this!
