June News

Mainly during June, I was a writer in residence at the Prairie Center. I did, however, spend a day in Chicago for my chapbook launch of SHE WHO LOVES HER FATHER (Dancing Girl Press). I read with some wonderful authors, some who have or will be, featured in my blog series on the chapbook.

Here’s a link to the YouTube SHE WHO LOVES HER FATHER playlist of poems read in recent readings, including the chapbook launch.

In other reading news, coming up soon, I’m reading in the War is Trauma event in Omaha this weekend.

Sally Deskins did a lovely preview feature of the event in KVNO News. I’m very much looking forward to seeing the art and hearing the other writers read their poetry.

Finally in reading news, the new local literary journal The Lincoln Underground, is hosting two reading events to promote the release of their summer issue.

I have a poem in the issue, so I plan to attend at least one of the readings. It will be fun to hear other local writers! What a treat!

In publishing news, I have poems in the recent issues of Interrobang?! Magazine, The New Poet, The Broad River Review, The Adroit Journal, ABZ, The Delinquent, and Feminist Studies. I’m so thrilled about the Feminist Studies publication. They are poems from my chapbook MY IMAGINARY and also in my forthcoming book SPRUNG. What was so lovely about the acceptance from Feminist Studies was that Minnie Bruce Pratt sent the acceptance. I was at AWP in Chicago when I received it. I was overjoyed and a little awe-struck. Minnie Bruce Pratt! I’ve been reading her wonderful poems for years and I’m currently reading her book S/he, which is so very interesting. Minnie Bruce Pratt accepted (and now published) my poems. Wow.

In other news, I have poems forthcoming in The Lincoln Underground, New Purlieu Review, and in the anthology On Our Own: Widowhood for Smarties (Silver Boomer Books).

And finally, I know I said this once, but there’s no harm in saying it twice: my new chapbook SHE WHO LOVES HER FATHER is now available from Dancing Girl Press. Yay!
